In Our Words: “Our vision for Hogwash was to create a modern beer hall with California style, taking inspiration from traditional German Hofbrau in layout and communal furnishings. The narrow shotgun format of the space recalls alleyways between city buildings – places that evoke spontaneity and community between locals. A large custom light fixture inspired by outdoor string lights, and geometric plaster tile used throughout infuse the space with an element of the unexpected. Large custom tables with the profile of traditional German furniture seat large parties comfortably. Copper cantilevered 2-tops in the more intimate back space allow for smaller groups and direct interaction with the active bar. The 30 tap system is clad in a light Calcutta marble, a precious material that adds an element of sophistication to the hand-oxidized oak finish of the floors, furniture and casework.”
