The Studio
Geremia Design is a San Francisco-based interior design studio and art consultancy known for its studied, collaborative approach and carefully referential work. Founded by Lauren Geremia in 2006, the studio creates spaces that respond directly to the people who live in them, shaped by dialogue, intuition and a deep interest in each client’s way of life. Comprising a close team of designers, the studio is heavily influenced by Lauren’s background in fine art – she studied painting at Rhode Island School of Design – and curatorial practice, which shepherds the studio’s distinctive approach to decorating. Combining painting and sculpture, materiality and atmosphere, it crafts spaces that are as close to artworks as it is possible to be.
While Geremia Design’s earliest champions were the tech firms synonymous with San Francisco – Instagram, Dropbox, Figma and others – now, its focus is on residential projects all over the world. The studio’s process, which relies on close collaboration with clients, is deliberately intimate, rooted in the belief that the best interiors are those that take into account the comings and goings of a life over time. Each project begins with an endeavour to understand not just a client’s needs, but their broader emotional and cultural context. Geremia Design does not have a singular aesthetic that it applies across the board; instead, the studio responds to the nuances of daily rituals and existing architecture to carefully compose homes that feel intrinsically personal.
