It is impossible to talk about Geremia Design without underscoring
the importance of Lauren Geremia’s art consultancy practice, which is integral to the studio’s approach and often becomes the springboard for conversations about decorative tone, rhythm and psychological depth. Lauren’s innate sense of colour, understanding of compositional tension – both of an artwork itself and within the context of its display – and excellent connections within the art world mean clients often request she build a collection for them from scratch or refine an existing one, advising on placement and additions.
In many projects, Geremia Design cleverly blurs the line between art and architecture: surfaces become installations, and materials may carry as much weight as a piece of furniture. In one home, faced with the challenge of creating a powerful visual focus in a room without space for traditional artwork, the studio conceived an entirely bespoke sea glass wall, which shrewdly provokes a sense of painterliness and morphs the material into something part architecture, part artwork.
